HARDWARE CONFIGURATION CONTROL
The client provides customers with flight simulators six months prior to aircraft delivery. In addition to specific software and data, the actual cockpit must match the customer’s chosen configuration. Over 100 parts are unique to each customer and often change over time making configuration control a challenge.
Many suppliers struggle to support an aircraft build schedule and the simulators require parts earlier than the actual aircraft. Hardware changes, part status and schedule changes can come from multiple sources and impact the configuration.
Collinear was able to tailor a database application where data could be controlled, updated and shared by all stakeholders. The resulting database is a single source for all simulator configurations.
THE COLLINEAR ADVANTAGE:
Consolidating the information into a single database enabled multiple synergies including providing a pool of available parts and providing a suite of useful reports. The labor required to support status tracking and issue resolution has been reduced by more than 50%.
