EXTERNAL SOFTWARE SUPPLIER OFF TARGET, NO RECOVERY IN SIGHT
A major software development project by an external supplier was over a year behind schedule and there was no recovery plan.
Define the end product, determine current status and create a plan to complete the project in time to support the overall program. The contracting organization did not have the expertise to provide direction to the software supplier.
Collinear implemented agile tools and processes as well as software engineering best practices. We coached the client to better define and organize the software tasks into user stories, bugs and sprints. Collinear developed and implemented a project recovery plan that would support the clients overall program.
THE COLLINEAR ADVANTAGE:
Collinear improved communications between the client and the supplier and restored a relationship that had soured due to poor performance. The first phase was completed in time to support the overall program. By using the tools put in place by Collinear, the client was able to take some of the phase two activities in house thus reducing the program costs of the external supplier by $200K.
